Borsht night.

“Does this remind you of Russia?”
“Not really, just of here,” Maria smiled.
“YES! IT DOES TO ME!!!” Finley interupted.
“Well, we better start learning how to make Injera since we’ll be meeting baby sister in a little more than…..”
“ONE WEEK!!!”

Flights are booked, hotels booked–it’s charming, driver secured. Travel calls made, “You really can’t drive anywhere on the rural roads at night,” she informed us over conference call.
“Sure,” Andrew and I nod and wink to each other.
“In fact, it’s the most dangerous place to drive in all the world with the leading cause of death because of unsafe roads.”
“Oh…” we say, looks like we’ll be following directions after all.
How are we feeling?

Got pictures today today in our email from the orphanage, actually let it sink in this time. Studied her little face, the faces of the children in cribs behind her. Just amazingly precious in every way, very humbling, that she will be ours, we kind of can’t believe that we could be so fortunate.
I couldn’t help myself, I bought a flowey yellow sundress for her at Target yesterday.
A little more than one week, we get to hold her in our arms, a forever kind of embrace that will carve a new life for one sweet girl, and two parents and three waiting siblings at home. A forever kind of love, even when we are old and gray, and can’t quite rock her any more, she will have our hearts, our love and devotion. We have fought this far for her, and she doesn’t even know it yet. How loved she is, by so, so many, waiting to welcome her home.
Home.
Thank you for caring and supporting and loving and encouraging us. Zero percent chance we could have done this whole thing AGAIN without you. We have no real words to put together for how grateful we are for what is about to happen.
We love you, and thank you and OH MY GOSH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!
How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. Ephesians 1:3-6

These three about to make some amazing big siblings <3
We would love your prayers, for transition, and grace and protection, and any of the good things I may be leaving out. Thank you, so much.

Tears! So excited for you. Finally!
One week!! Congratulations, so very happy for you all! Safe journey!
I’m so excited for you and your family. What a blessing! It sounds like you’re picking her up this time rather than doing a preliminary visit as in some adoptions: am I right about this?
I bet Maria’s really happy to have a sister as well as her lovely brothers!
So excited to meet this little girl. So excited for your family. Been a long quiet journey, I wondered about this and her for a while. So happy it’s coming to the end of this chapter. What a blessed family you are to be given the gift of her, and what a blessing you will be to her as well.
Safe travels.
I have followed along your journey for a while now but I couldn’t help commenting now! I am SO excited for your sweet little family but especially for the life that is about to be transformed into one filled with love and happiness. What a blessing for you all xx
