Wahoo! Birthday time!
My tiny baby is now 3 years old.

Oh jeez, all the cute things…

From the moment he woke up, he couldn’t get his squish smile off his face. He felt so, so special.

Alright, down to business. You know how you start the adoption process, and then all of a sudden you’re like…

Well, fret not. I am going to line up for you how to have the least pinterst, and most adoption friendly party ever. For instance, boxed cake in a normal pan with your actual kid’s toys that they play with–on top.
‘Favors’ that are things you actually just had at your house.
And $19 at dollar tree.
Pin it; “Cheap Birthday party that was so darn fun, and a boy who felt so special” But when you have such amazing friends, the whole point is to be together.

Peep our actual bed sheet, so wrinkled, displayed for all. $1 garage sale circus tent, and a happy boy!
We do parties every other year for our kids; last year was Maria and Finn, so this year is Elijah’s big year!

Our theme was Party Animal. Animals wearing party hats. Don’t look too closely, kthanks.

While we sang…

And the kids LOVED IT! To keep with ‘the theme,’ all the kids had to share their favorite animal in exchange for a piece of cake.

Presents time! This was Elijah’s first time opening presents from so many friends for his birthday. Each time he opened one, he was ready to play with it right then and there.

My BIG helper! She, Papa and I made everything just right for Elijah’s big day!

We love you Elijah, you are such a little dream boat. Braver and stronger than you know. You glow with life, and the immense beauty of the kindness in your heart and the thoughts in your head. You are precious, but you are so much more. You have a fire in your soul that will take you far. You have infinite possibility as you grow, and as a seed uncurling under the sun, roots charging deep below you, the world will open up to you.
As you grow and discover your strength, you will find your dreams coming true, the world a sea of possibilities at the tip of your toes spread out before you.
You are you, and you are enough. You are more capable, strong and wise than you could imagine, but soon you will know.
You are alive, brimming with possibility, and you will change the world. Because you are you.

Sometimes the simplist things mean the most. We tend to feel like we have to make a party worth wild for the participants. But in reality those who come love us regardless of the “show”. I love all the photos but the last one says it all. That last photo is the epitome of love between a mother and her son. Keep it simple live life and love always.
Yes, and once we’re over the show, everyone has such a good time! Thank you!
Kudos to the Brockhaus family! You got the priorities straight: togetherness outside. Happy birthday, little man!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday, little dude!
What a joy it’s been to watch you grow older and stronger and smilier 🙂
Oh, the places you’ll go, E!
