Stuart

A few years ago, we met a friend at the apartment mailbox, he was wearing a ball cap.

“Dodgers fan, huh?” Andrew asked him.

“Oh yeah,” he half smiled.  They chatted a bit, “I don’t get out much, my wife passed away very recently and I just don’t have the heart to do much…”

“We want to see you, give me your number,” Andrew told him,

When we called an hour later, he was surprised it was us, he sounded happy.  “I didn’t think you would call,” he said, kindly.

Before we had Finely, he would plan dinners for us and a movie.  We would watch Chariots of Fire or Cider House Rules.  He would have a spread of good food for us.  He met both of our families.

We took him to his first Sushi.

He took us for the first time to Tip Top Meats.

The morning Finley was born, a beautiful bouquet of flowers were delivered with the kindest note to Finley, from “Uncle Stuart”

He went with us to have Finley dedicated.

We would spend hours talking and talking in our old apartments, at ours or his, we were just on different levels.

He gave us his piano, the one Maria plays everyday.

Two years ago he moved to North Carolina, but we have been able to keep in touch.  We called him last week and missed the call.

Today we received a phone call that he is sick and in the ICU.  He is not doing well and that he was focused on having someone call us.

He is very sick.

We are heartbroken.

Please pray for our friend Stuart.  He is one of the most special friends we have ever had and we love him so much.

Sounds like a beautiful friendship with a beautiful man. I’m not sure what I was expecting there at the end, but it wasn’t that Stuart is sick alone across the country 🙁 Praying for healing!!

What part of NC does he live in!? I’m from Charlotte, my fiancee lives in Greensboro, we would gladly go visit him in the hospital if he is in the area and up for visitors?

This made me feel sad. I can relate, as my elderly neighbor was suddenly “whisked away” to an assisted living home, taking only a few clothes. She was devastated, as am I. Her only child, a son is anxious to return to Germany and he wanted to “take care of her things” before he leaves. My heart hurts for her.
I will definitely keep Stuart in my prayers. I am SO happy that he had you two to call! At least he knows that you love him and it will bring Peace to his heart, to know that you are aware. Praying for you all, as well.
    Hugs. Jo
