Prayers please

Please pray for Russia right now.

Their holidays are over, the first families since the ban have landed, including three friends of ours who have passed court, the children legally bare their name, but are facing opposition.  Some sleep in new jammies snuggled with parents with threats of them being taken.

From a friend who is with her son:
“Just visited with our boy. I had to tell you about our talk with our facilitator. She was at the protest with her family and she said it has been like a war here, and they feel like soldiers. She said at one point, there was a helicopter over the protest, and part of her thought they might bomb the protestors. In her mind, she said, she was willing to die for this cause! Can you believe that? She also says that everyone, the judges, the Ministry of Education, etc are all on our side. I asked her about the amendment and she said, “we can only hope”. She had tears in her eyes when she told us about the protestors, many who were rich people. Some had brought their children. She said the signs were not all political, many were just pleas of parents. One mother had her daughter on her shoulders. Her daughter was holding a sign with some words from a popular children’s poem that talked about how even when children play hide-and-seek, their parents will ALWAYS find them. Her mother held a sign that said “children don’t know borders.” We both had tears in our eyes as we talked about this, and I told her how all of us at home are praying and holding on to any shred of news we can get.”

There are marches, people are impassioned, but remember things are different there than they are here, and they still need a miracle.  But from what I’ve heard, people are rising, a group of people is is standing up.

A very brave girl wrote this: http://world.time.com/2013/01/14/the-blind-girl-vs-putin-a-plea-for-russias-handicapped-orphans/#ixzz2HzKRegPm
“Vladimir Putin, children with grave genetic diseases are not adopted by our families, because these children need modern medicine, which in Russia does not exist.”

I know these kids are far away, a country so far away, I know the 800,000 kids aren’t your kids, but I just know, that if you met them, if you let them crawl into your arms and let them call you momma like they would, you would feel closer.

Please pray for Russia, and the kids, it’s going to be the week that decides many things.

My heart belongs to the children of Russia, and has since I visited an “older children” orphanage in 2000. I still hope and pray to adopt one day, once I am married. Your blog has renewed my vigor to pray for these children and remember their arms around my neck. Thank you for your blog and for bringing your babies home with you!

I happen to live close by (San Marcos) and work in Vista — I saw this recent post on my alma mater’s page and thought you guys might be interested:
