Pool day

Let’s face it, all us moms just need to get together sometimes.  Slather our wiggly babies with sunscreen, let them chew on all the same toys at all the same time, while they splash water in each others’ faces.  I love mommy time, such a small window in each of our lives with such newness, such importance, joy, and such need of support.  I am fortunate to know these mamas, and to have our babies spend time together.

As we wade through the emotions of being a mother to such a tiny person, a person who holds your heart in their soft little palms, a tiny person who is utterly dependent on you for every single need and with each passing breath.  Oh my, it can weigh your heart if you’re not careful, and resolute to maintain your friendships.

Little Keaton gobbled up some of his favorite food.  What a cutie pie!

Helpful bigger kids, using little fingers to feed the tinies ones their black bean lunches.  The Tiny is lucky to have such sweet friend, already modeling a life helping others!

The truth is, us as mommies got a lot on our plates.  It was important to each of us that we don’t just get together to hang out, to shoot the breeze–brag about our babies.  But, we knew it was important to use our time wisely with each other.  We meet each Thursday morning, to pour love, encouragement and truth onto each other while connecting to God.  Each Thursday we read, Lies Women Believe, and pray for one another.  It has been one of the most heartfelt and deep times of growing in each of our lives.  It has truly revealed to us the things that have us down, deeply down on ourselves, and we share with each other the TRUTH!  Sometimes even the hard truth.  YES!  It has been changing the very fabric of our motherhood, wifehood, person hood.  I truly believe it is changing our lives, being so honest and open with one another, holding nothing back, allowing ourselves to be healed.

This week, we met too for a pool day.  Why are my friends so amazing?

Stay connected, stay open, and loving!

You are so blessed to be able to stay so closely connected with your friends. I’ve been struggling with that this summer. This fall many of my friends’ children will be starting school so we aren’t sure how well get together any more. I think we’ll need to get more creative.

    Your photos are beautiful 🙂
I remember back when I had my first few children, and my friends were all having their babies, and we’d all get together at parks and pools and play dates. Good times! The thing that happened to me is that my friends all stopped having kids after 3 or 4 … yet I kept on going. And then my older children started in with the sports and school and all that, and there was no time for all that new-mama time (because by that time I was the only “new” mama in my circle of friends…and I didn’t take the time to find new “new” mama friends because life got busy with my older kids) Anyway, I just remember really missing that bonding time with new mamas.

Embrace this time in your life. It’s so very special.
I know you know that, but I just had to say it anyway 🙂

I’m a new follower. Love the look of your blog, it’s so cheery and bright! I think my blog needs a make-over….

It’s so important to have other women in your life you can share with and confide in! I also did a blog post about this this week.

Just wanted you to know I’m adding your button to the bottom of my blog! Keep up the good work!
