New Teef

So, after a few months of teething speculation, the two shiny pearls finally popped through his gums.

Oh my goodness, we just thought they looked like the cutest little additions.
“What a big boy you are!” we cooed at him, tickling him under his little chin.

That night, I sat in our chair and we got ready to nurse, a boy’s most favorite time of his life.  And before even one drop entered his mouth, I got the shock of my life as those tiny teeth, once so sweet and new, now turning me into a teether.

“OW!”  I yelped!

“WAHHHH!”  The Tiny countered.

Then, we both cried.

I pumped and bottle fed after that one, which just about did me in.  I am way too lazy to hold a bottle, I guess.  I kept testing to see when it was safe to nurse by sticking my finger in his mouth, only to have two razor sharp piranha teeth stab my fingertip.  “Ouch!” I whispered, trying not to shock him like last time.

After two days of washing pump supplies while grumbling, he passed the finger test and I tried once again, scared for my life.  Lo and behold, I wasn’t turned into a piece of trident, and I finally began to relax.

Now we’re back in the swing of things, and bought the boy a tooth brush for his new toofs!

Do you have any tips, or know if this could happen again as more teeth erupt in that little mouth? I sure hope not!!!

I am once again just blown away by the cuteness of your wonderful little boy.
When my 3 started to cut teeth it seemed like ar eal sign that they were starting to grow and change. How I wish somedays that they were babies once more and not 20, 13 and 12…

Oh, that is the worst! When my little guy had his bottom teeth, but (thankfully) no top teeth he would clamp down, then yank his head away without unclamping. Not appreciated!!!

My little gal bit me three times and each time I yelped loudly cuz I couldn’t help it and she smile at me with a huge teethy grin. I melted everytime I saw that smile and somehow she just stopped doing it all on her own thank God!! His teefers ARE SO CUTE!!!

    Stopping by from the mingle!
Your boy is SO CUTE! I love his little teeth!!!
*My daughter never bit me when she got her first teeth (3 of them! yikes!) — but I decided it was time to stop nursing (I felt like I wasn’t producing enough – and tried the pumping.. but sadly, we had to go to formula at about 10 months.)
*I did read that if you yelp, they think it’s a game, and so they continue to bite.. so I think you did the right thing? And (hopefully) it won’t happen again!

Ouch! I weaned my Monkey before he got his teeth so I don’t have any tips for you. But my post today was all about teething as well!

I have no idea about breastfeeding, but my mother said she refused to do so after my sisters and I got teeth. She switched right over to pumping and never looked back after that!

Hey girl! When my little guy bit down I “tried” to flick his nose– my sis says if you do it hard enough once they get the idea — my problem was that I was in such shock I couldn’t always do it immediately. But I still tried & it must have worked cause we’re still going & there has been no biting for a long time! Another option I heard was to pull them off & wait a minute or two just sitting there then try again — and repeat till they get the idea that biting = stopping. And as far as if it will happen again, maybe 🙂 EVERY once in a while mine will bite down slightly (but its been only since he has teeth on top too), but it doesn’t hurt enough for me to do anything so I just let it go 😉 Hopefully that’s the end of your biting too!!

Ouch! My boy still has no teefs, though he’s been “teething” for months. I’m not looking forward to being bitten. I’ve heard that you’re supposed to stop feeding him as soon as he bites and put him down. That way he will understand that there is a reaction to his action. Who knows if it actually works?
