Tiny Moment

Sometimes adoptive parents have to parent in such different ways, like when your little one is having a rough time, shove them in your shirt to make it all better.
His heart is learning permanence, trust, love, an incredible, life changing gift to witness, to hold.  And at times we can see the ache in his heart come out, a look in his eyes.  The hurt will manifest in different ways, and to respond to it has been an instrument of learning, for us, in grace and love, and humility–things you want, but don’t actually want to learn through experience.

But every day, every moment; “It is worth it.”

Redemption, humility, hard and grace.

To be taught what love actually is, for us.  For him.

“Because it isn’t where we love. It’s how we love. It’s who we love. The reward of loving is in the loving; loving is itself the great outcome of loving. The success of loving is in how we change because we kept on loving – regardless of any thing else changing. The value of loving is in the value of being like Christ.”  -Katie Davis
