Our Day (a.k.a a totally free day with a toddler)

We started off at our favorite park, which is actually a garden.  It’s perfect for my little guy to run around, no too big equipment, but so much to interact with.

We fed fishies.

We tried to pick buh-nanas

They have an outdoor music section that is so fun.  Our son is such a little drummer, but they have all sorts of things.  (There is also a sandbox with dinosaurs roaming in it 😉

Then, at 11 was preschool story time.  I called my friend C to see if she and her daughter wanted to come.  “YES PLEASE!” they said, so we picked ’em up!  My brave friend C doesn’t have a car or a licensee, so it’s nice we live so close so we can do stuff together.  Plus, Finley thinks Marley is the coolest 3 year old, maybe ever.  C and I became friends when she joined a growth group for young families as a single mom, so rad.  We live like 5 mins apart!

I love the library, it’s definitely our hang out place since everything is free (Hello adoption budget! :).  Then we made some crafts.  Look out, Monet.

Finn and Marley.

We taught C and Marley how to check out books (mostly princess 😉 with the cool space scanner.  We checked out some books and a beat up copy of an “ABC Yoga for kids” DVD to try out.

We dropped off our friends, and Finn had his nap. Then we popped in the yoga DVD.

Oh. My. Gosh.

Finley thought it was the funniest thing ever.  So did I.  He did half the right form, mostly his own dance moves, and a lot of laughing from both of us.  Anytime he came close to a move, which wasn’t all the time, I said, “Good job, buddy!”  I had to model all the first poses for him, then he was into it.

Haha!  Free fun.

B-butterfly pose, H-hot air balloon, C- caterpiller!

While making dinner, I set up some bowls with rice and a cup on a cookie sheet.  He was into it.

Then, when daddy was off of work, we decided to have dinner outside on the lawn.  It was so fun, and clean up was a breeze.

And check out our new free lawn furniture.  Bye bye ugly palm tree!

Free time is the best time, especially when you have a toddler.  Plus, anyone can come join you when it’s free 🙂

**C and I joined something called BSF last week.  And. We.  LOVE. it. (And she was nervous 😉
It’s international.  I only just heard about it, and it’s awesome, check it out.
Is it free?  Of course 😉 I’ll let you know more about it as we get into it.

We are learning to seek out free things too and we have so much fun doing it! I just saw this post on Daytrippingmom.com about a handful of FUN places that will offer free admission for kids in October. I’m assuming Finley is probably already free to get into most places but thought I’d share anyway. 🙂

I see that you’re doing BSF, and I’m so jealous! You will love it; my husband and I did it for 7 years when we lived in Madison, WI. Our current location is too small to have a group. When Finley is old enough, make sure he does the children’s program. It is amazing! I was a children’s leader for 3 years, and I learned way more than the kids did! One of the cool things about BSF is since it’s international, you can attend classes anywhere they meet if you’re traveling (like to Russia?!!!). They’re all held in English. Our oldest daughter interned in Tokyo last year, and she joined BSF there. Unfortunately, her time was cut short by the earthquake. Anyway, hope you learn as much as I did; it’s a great Bible study!
