My sweet 6 year old hero

Is a real life sweetie who I have never even met.

Two weeks ago her mama emailed me and said that Kaitlin had made a decision.

You see, Kaitlin’s birthday was coming up on the 18th of March, and Kaitlin decided that for her gymnastics birthday party, instead of receiving birthday gifts for herself, she would ask for donations for a little child on Reece’s Rainbow who doesn’t have a family, gifts or a party.

Can you imagine a 6 year old deciding that?!  My goodness!

As Kaitlin looked at all the sweet faces on Reece’s Rainbow, Maya stood out to her.

She chose Maya to receive her sacrificial gift.

Over this past weekend Kaitlin had her special birthday party, and between checks and cash received $239.75 for Maya’s adoption fund!

My goodness Kaitlin, you are truly my hero!  And you are Maya’s hero, too!  We will surely tell Maya of your sweet sacrifice and special gift.  When she’s ready, maybe she can write you a real letter!

Andrew and I and many of our friends were so impressed by little Kaitlin.  My friend Jennifer said, “We sure learn so much from our little ones.  Kaitlin just taught me a biblical lesson.” My prayer is that my children will be as generous and giving as sweet Kaitlin is.

A sweet fact about Kaitlin is that she is adopted too!  She and Maya already will have something in common!

What a truly lovely and wonderful thing for a little girl to do.

You guys are so blessed, and I see from your thermometer that you are now a 1/3 of the way to your target which is fabulous news!
