More adventures in babyfood making

I think we’re spoiled.  Our boy likes just about anything…or maybe I’m just a super great cook!?  Hmmm, I’ll go with that one.  I’ll take what I can get.

Recently he’s been into one of my favorites: broccoli.  It is so cheap to make, and actually I have never seen broccoli baby food in jars, do they make it?

Steam
Blend

Freeze some, fridge some.  Keep a boy regular 😉

So as much as we’d like to, we do not buy organic for ourselves.  Do we look like we’re made of money?  Mmmk, thanks.  But we do buy it for The Tiny, cause well, he’s Tiny, and who knows what crazy stuff it out there.  But, when I taste “his food” I about flip out because it’s so darn good!  We bought organic purple grapes for the same price as a downpayment on a condo and they were the most delicious things I can even remember eating.  I remember feeling so jealous as The Tiny slurped it off his spoon, a little dribbling down his chin as he smiled up at me–did he not realize the pure gold he was wasting???

So, obviously don’t steam fruit.  That would be crazy.  But wash it with some kinda citrus cleanser.

Then, when I mixed it, it was way too watery to spoon feed to anyone.  So, I added avocado and oatmeal to the mixture.  Andrew and I both agreed it was the best tasting baby food we’ve ever tried (Was that a weird sentence?)

Well, there you have it folks.  I am feeding my baby ruffage, and being jealous of his food selection.  Any neat tips you want to share?

xoxo,
Amy

The hubs and I plan on making baby food for our kids, too! I love that there is such a large community of cloth diapering, baby-wearing, homemade baby food making mommies out there on the Internet! My family is super supportive, but other than my aunt who cloth diapered with flats, pins, and rubber pants, no one else truly understand why I’m choosing (even before we have a baby) to do these things. My grandma doesn’t condemn me for it, but seriously cannot understand why I would choose cloth over disposable diapers. I explained how they work now and she said they sound cool, but I think she’ll be more of a convert once she sees them in action. 🙂

lol-I love your cute sense of humor! (grapes=condo down payment) And you ARE lucky for him to eat whatever you make…I wish my son was like that, although when we was smaller he wasn’t quite as picky. I never tried making my own baby food, but I might have to when my next one comes, you make it look delicious and easy!

I just introduced meat and it’s SO FUN. What I’ll do is I’ll puree and freeze a veggie medley of some sort, bake and mash a potato, and the saute ground chicken with olive oil and a tiny bit of seasonings. I’ll mix the veggies, potato, ground chicken, and add a splash of chicken stock and my baby LOVES it.

Okay, that sounds yummy. I really wanted to feed my daughters homemade baby food. I did with my now 4 year old, but the other two I was just too busy with the older ones.
