Our First Father’s Day

This post is dedicated to one amazing father, my love: Andrew.  Your love for our son inspires me and blesses me each and every day.

When the sun started to peek through the curtains, I woke up and went to the kitchen the world still bathed in morning blue, peaceful silence outside.  I started boiling water for tea, and mixing pancakes ingredients in my mixer–banana blueberry.  I poured orange juice, and set out butter and maple syrup, ready to make my guy–and in my opinion–world’s best papa feel loved.

The Tiny woke up and joined us for breakfast.  We gave each other knowing glances and nods about our secret adventures we had planned for papa when he wasn’t looking.  We both knew it was going to be a good day.

At church, they had meatballs for all the papas, which Andrew loved, but Finley said he felt kind of left out as he tried to swipe some for hisself, and protested loudly when his chubby fingers couldn’t grab hold.

After church, I told Andrew that we had to be somewhere and started giving him cryptic directions.  “Exit #15.”  “Which one’s that?”  “I’ll tell you when we get close!” I smiled, delighted by my own sneakiness, even though once we got to the exit, he knew just where to go without me telling him, smiling at me over his shoulder, since it is the only true destination off of that exit.

We pulled up to Stone Brewery and Gardens, and I told him that one of his friends would be joining him with his family, too!  “Oh wow!  How cool!”  He said.

Just then the Milroys pulled up and we headed into the restaurant.  We toured the gardens and found a spot with four wooden chairs under a shade tree, with a little waterfall flowing nearby and spent a few hours talking while the babies ate, played or snoozed.

“Dan, you so funny!”

The new daddies, enjoining their special day!
Little Hawea pulling herself up!  She is just 6 weeks older than Finley

We had such a fun and relaxing time with our great friends.  Andrew kept saying, “This is just how I’d want to be spending father’s day!”

Finley has such a fun time, and he decided that he loves father’s day, and that it should be father’s day year round.  Andrew concurred.

This is when he first woke up from his car ride nap!

Some kisses

Our Tiny even got to climb his very first tree.  He said it was “thrilling.”

Wow I can see some much from up here!

“Dear papa, I is dedicating these next few pictures to you cause I think you are the most fun papa.  I like how you don’t just watch me play, or pretend to like playing with me, but how much you LOVE playing with me.  How much you LOVE spending time with me, and I feel like we have a real relationship, even though I’m jus’ 7 months old.  I know you love me through and through, and I think you are the world’s sweetest, most fun daddy.  Let’s always play together for our whole lives.

Love,
The Tiny

Happy Fathers day to all the daddies out there!  You fill a most cherished and important role!  You deserve to be celebrated.
