We’re packing our bags

To go cozy up with some friends at this cabin.  We can’t wait!  We are going to be going to Big Bear with 6 other couples, mostly from our small group, and 3 babies.

We got a huge cabin together with an 80s looking marbleized plastic jacuzzi, pool table, log fire and each couple has one meal to make for the group.  (I kind of can’t wait to be cooked for this whole weekend!)  We are going to be cooking breakfast on Sunday morning, so tuck your napkin into your shirt and get ready for some pancakes, bacon and eggs!  Good thing I have experience cooking breakfast for a group.

So if you need me, we’ll be here.  Pretty neat!

Why are we going up?

All the guys have been working hard like never before–going on long runs, getting shin splints, jumping into puddles, and strength training to participate in the Tough Mudder.  What is the Tough Mudder?

It is the most extreme obstacle course you can find.  It is not based on time completed, it is based on if you complete at all.  Our husbands will be electric shocked, running through fire, and just trying to make it to the finish line.  We’ll see! I mean YOU GUYS CAN DO IT!!  Here is the warning on the website:

WARNING: Tough Mudder is 3-4 times longer and MUCH TOUGHER than a typical mud run such as Warrior Dash. On average, only 78% of participants finish a Tough Mudder event. Only those in strong physical condition should enter.

All the girls are getting spectator passes, and those of us with babies will be camped out near the finish line, which coincidentally is also right by the hanging wires, some with a 10,000 volt shock!  Oh my!

The guys are all dressing 80s together as their team, so we decided to all dress 80s on Saturday night.  Andrew and I went to the DAV and got some goodies for the big night.

Us shopping.  Peep the guy in the background, he didn’t appreciate us taking our shopping less than seriously.  We even picked up a shoulder pad number for K, and some orange short shorts for D.

Now, I need to go pack, because I can’t go on a trip without packing moments before I go, even when I really try to pack the day before.  I wonder how Finley will do living in a big house for a 4 day weekend with everyone, I bet he’ll love it.  He is mildly in love with a few of the girls in our bible study, and he loves groups, maybe it’s because we bring him to all our events.

If you need us, we’ll be in this 80s jacuzzi

Have a good weekend, what are you up to?

P.S.  I need your vote.  Should we shave all the guys to have mullets tonight at the cabin before the race tomorrow?

Oh man, I have read about Tough Mudder, and it sounded so scary! I have done Warrior Dash before and didn’t think it was too bad, but I know this one is like 297293473 times harder. Thanks for stopping by my blog!!

Haha – “we’ll see” (I mean, you guys can do it!) That is something I would totally think in my head, and then tell them just the opposite! This post made me realize how utterly jealous I am of your memorial weekend getaway!! That cabin look amazing (can that even qualify as a cabin!!?? It is beautiful)
