A day that will go down…

…in the memory of my husband forever!

The first time he ever took his son to a baseball game.

Baseball is not only the only sport we love, but it is also the only sport we follow.  To be perfectly honest, we are slightly snobby to other, in our minds, less classy sports.  (Just name any sport, and you’re on the right track.  I know, we’re snobs.  Hint:  We played tennis during the superbowl.)

Back to our night, our so so awesome night.  We had 4 tickets, so we made some turkey burgers for our friends, pulling out every condiment we’ve ever had (even some that we forgot we had.  Strawberry mustard from Carlsbad?  Amish pepper jelly?  I think my family uses condiments as stocking stuffers more often than the average family)

We loaded up two carseats in our car with tiny babies tucked in, and for the first time unfolded the “third row of seats,” in the way back.   Leanne and I sat in the furthest row, feeling kind of like kids giggling.

Have I mentioned the Moby Wrap is amazing!  The Tiny loves to kick his legs and smile at strangers, and thier tiny loves to be so cozy and nestled into mama.  Little bundle faces!!

So here are some highlights of Finley at his very first baseball game.  Yes, we are at the Padres games, but deep down in his soul, our Tiny is a true Cardinals fan, just like his papa.  And despite being at the Padres games, that night he let his true fan colors come out for all to see!

The truth is, the Padres are just about in last place, and although they scraped by in this game, it wasn’t without many dropped balls and plays that I feel like I could have done better myself in my softball years (and I was no MVP).  Luckily, if you are from another state, I’ll let you in on the secret: most San Diegans don’t really take too much stake in our sports.  It’s more about the expereince and atmosphere at our awesome park.

But for us?  Our best moments were the special memories made with our boy.

He actually seemed very interested in the game.  He couldn’t take his eyes off the field!  He even threw up his arms in disgust when the umpire called that Diamond Back safe at first, or maybe it was just perfect timing?
Well, he was very interested until the very last moments.  It was indeed very much past a blinky boy’s bedtime.
We tucked our tinies into their carseats and drove home through the night.  Such a great night that will live in our hearts forever.

I am about to cry! Our lives seem to be overlapping! Baseball is not big by any means here in Australia. My 9 year old with autism who is a very gently boy has just discovered baseball this weekend past. He wants to join a team come Springtime with his best friend and is amazing at hitting the ball. A fantastic structured sport for my boy.

Your boys is so beautiful – it warms my heart to remember when our Grace was our first babe and we delighted in that time with her.

    Love to you my friend
Rach xoxoxoxo kisses to your little one x

Oh my gosh, you guys are so cute! And I love baby wraps! Of course, I don’t have a baby yet, but I’m convinced I’ll have a solid collection when the time comes. Have you ever tried the ergo baby carrier?
